The CWCIT.net website is hosted behind
a state-of-the art ProtectPoint managed firewall. This means that all information coming
in or out of our web server is screened to guard against unauthorized access.
Our managed ProtectPoint firewall also helps us guard your information from internet hackers
looking to inflict harm. Within 60 seconds of any attempt to gain unauthorized
access, our engineers are notified and warned of the attack - long before the
intruders can break in.
In addition to being a powerful state-of-the-art firewall, each ProtectPoint
has an integrated Intrusion Detection System (SIS-Alert) that enables the
ProtectPoint to continually check traffic for a variety of potential intrusions,
including port scans and denial of service (DoS) attacks. SIS-Alert monitors for
signs of security violations by checking against known “attack signatures”,
data sequences that can be matched against a database of known attack types.
The ProtectPoint can identify over a 1000 attack signatures and the list is
automatically updated as new signatures are discovered. This technique is
key to differentiating between real threats and data that coincidentally
matches an attack signature. With the implementation of stateful packet
filtering, the ProtectPoint tracks state information across multiple
packets to put information into context.

the people looking to cause us harm and protects our valuable customers that frequent
our site daily.
Encryption
This website takes every precaution
to protect our users’ information. When users
submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both
online and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks users to enter
sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security
number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption
software in the industry - 128-Bit SSL. While
on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web
browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes
locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive
information online, we also do everything in our power to protect
user-information off-line.
